Vicky Stonebridge is a freelance Artist, illustrator, comic creator and Potter based in Lochcarron. Vicky runs ‘Balnacra Pottery’ a studio space in a 200yr old former blacksmiths building East of Lochcarron at the community owned ‘Smithy Community Hub’.

Vicky has over 30 years experience of running, organising & delivering a wide range of Arts and Crafts workshops, classes, training programmes and events.

The Open College of the Arts:

The Open College of the Arts (OCA):

OCA is part of The Open University. They joined The Open University in August 2023.

They have an exceptional range of part-time courses including painting, drawing, creative-writing, film, photography, graphic design and many more, with an award-winning online MA Fine Art course.

There are several intake opportunities throughout the year to enrol for the (Hons) degree programmes and Foundations courses.

OCA are not tied by fixed term times, so students can study when they wish, flexing studies with work and other responsibilities.

Sarah Longley:

Sarah is a wonderful local artist. She is based within the Kirkton/Auchtertyre area, and runs many fantastic courses.

Currently, Sarah hosts:

Lochalsh Life Drawing

Wednesday (fortnightly), 7:30pm – 9:30pm at Kirkton Hall (age 16+)

This is a friendly, relaxed drawing session, which is not tutored.

Just turn up and draw!

‘Sarah’s Saturday Art Club’

Saturday (weekly), 11:30am – 1:00pm at Kirkton Hall (very family-friendly!)

This is a relaxed, informal art club for adults and children of all ages.

The class covers a diverse range of media: drawing, painting, print-making, sculptures, construction and group projects.

Storr Glass Studio:

Storr Glass Studio offers a number of workshops showing customers how the glass making process works. From initial preparation to finishing touches, they will show you the entire process from start to finish.

If you are unable to book onto one of the listed workshops, then it may be possible to offer an alternative date for a small group (between 3-5 people). A bespoke booking would suit a group on holiday or for a special occasion such as a birthday party/hen party, or a fun event for a small group of friends.

Tamasine Quayle

Watercolour workshops with Tamasine!

As an artist, Tamasine explores memory, narrative and sense of place. Inspired by folklore, storytelling and the Scottish landscape, she creates mixed media pieces with an ode to texture. She loves the process of navigating the wild, untameable nature of watercolour.

Tamasine offers a series of classes that involve experimenting, playing and exploring techniques with gentle guidance and support to help creativity!

Workshops are as follows:

Fridays (7-9pm)

Saturdays (10-12pm)
