Keeping Motivated
Learning can be challenging at times and keeping motivated is not always easy.
Stella Cottrell (2019, p. 114) has some ideas, which may help you to sustain motivation levels.
- Remind yourself why you began learning something new.
- List the reasons WHY you are learning.
- Underline those that are most important to you.
- Make a list of the ways your learning has improved, or will improve, your life.
- Using the above, produce a ‘motivation chart’. Inspire yourself with snappy sentences, which are designed to motivate. Include motivational photos or pictures. Maybe you could add inspirational quotes from elsewhere.
- Make a screensaver of your ‘motivational chart’, so that you are reminded (on a daily basis) of the reasons for continually learning.
This can be a fun activity, which really helps to lift motivation levels – give it a try.
