Skye & Lochalsh Paddle Boarding

In my early 30s I decided I need a change of direction, so I went back to college with UHI and did an outdoor adventure course. A couple of years later, I did a “professional outdoor instructor” course and worked a couple of seasons in Cornwall and then two more in Somerset, at two prestigious outdoor centres.

Eventually, after being derailed temporarily by a rather hideous car crash, from which paddle boarding featured massively in the mental and physical rehabilitation, this led to my moving to Scotland permanently (my heart has always been here) and the establishing of SLPB which has been a wonderful, life changing experience. I can trace the lineage of SLPB and the skillset used, back to the retail and hospitality jobs I did as a teenager, through the youth and community work I did in my 20s, right through to where I am today.

As one expression goes “It does not matter how slowly you go, as long as you do not stop” and as such, lifelong learning is something I’m passionate about and you’re never to old to learn new tricks, or feel the mental and physical benefits from it. After all, “every day is a school day”.

With that as the context, I’m very proud that we’re now featured on the lifelong learning hub page  which is a brilliant resource for those looking to better themselves and I look forward to meeting you and being a part of your continued self improvement, should you decide that paddle boarding might just be the thing for you.
